The goal for the design of my new mobile website will be to make it more cohesive to the standard site. Keep in mind mobile websites are or should be stripped down version of regular websites so users can access information quickly and easily. Like the rest of my mobile websites it will have a user agent attached to it so when users go to reblis.com on a mobile device it will automatically redirect to the mobile version of the website at reblis.com/mobile.

Two must have productivity apps for designers

I have stumbled across two productivity apps that have helped my workflow on a daily basis. Good workflow can be a huge time saver in the design industry. The simple tasks like – exporting comps and attaching images to emails can consume so much time that otherwise could be spent being productive or actually designing.

Tiny Grab is this amazing little app that let’s you take screen shots just like you normally would, but instead of scouring your desktop or whatever download folder you set them to, Tiny Grab automatically uploads them to a server and adds a tiny URL of the location to your clipboard. This makes it easy to send over instant messenger or email. It will also give you the ability to take those screen captures and throw them directly in the trash or any place you want them to be.

• Unlimited grabs – No 10-a-day limit.
• Upload to your own private FTP – Ditch ours!
• Disable the ads on your grabs.
• Organize your grabs via our control panel.

Divvy is something I recently discovered. All designers constantly drag and drop from multiple places or even cut and past from a cluttered desktop. This program is effectively the same as the Windows 7 feature called “Snap”, but better! This program gives you the ability to align windows vertically, horizontally or even diagonal, as well as ability to design keyboard shortcuts for any configuration.

Here are some of the features:
• Press the Option key to subdivide the grid, allowing for more flexible resizing of windows.
• Hold the Shift key to temporarily disable automatic dismissal of the panel when dragging a selection.
• Pressing the Escape key while dragging will cancel the drag. Otherwise, it will dismiss the panel.

For the shortcut list and shortcut editor:
• Press the Option key to subdivide the grid, allowing you to create a more flexible shortcut.
• Press Command-N in the shortcuts list to create a new shortcut.
• Press Command-Delete in the shortcuts list to delete the selected shortcut.
• Double click an existing shortcut to edit it.
